Dr. Barrowes' First Choice in Braces

Dr. Barrowes uses the braces designed by Dr. Wick Alexander for both the stainless steel brackets and the white gold. The Alexander LTS System is a high-tech system which utilizes a number of different bracket designs, with each tooth having a bracket designed specifically to move that tooth most efficiently and effectively. Specific brackets have wings that act as long lever arms which rotate the teeth straight more efficiently than any other bracket system. This causes the teeth to move quicker with lighter forces, and results in greater comfort for the patient, often reducing both treatment time and the number of adjustments required.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel Braces

Stainless Steel braces are the most common type and are available in the Alexander LTS design, the efficient system described above. They are made with high-grade stainless steel. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.

Clear

Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. Some drawbacks to ceramic braces are that they are more brittle and can break, are thicker and push out the lips sometimes causing canker sores, are more difficult for the assistants to use, and are less efficient at straightening teeth in some cases, especially where teeth are rotated.

Gold

Gold Braces

Gold is often chosen by adults who want their braces to be less apparent, as it tends to blend and disappear from a short distance, while looking like sparkling fine jewelry close up. Gold brackets are especially indicated for those who are allergic to the nickel in stainless steel.

White Gold

White Gold Braces

White gold differs from regular gold in that it is even less visible, and is available in the Alexander LTS design, which is Dr. Barrowes’ first choice in braces described above.
